First year of University - Completed!

It's strange to think that around this time last year, I was leaving my lovely secondary school, finishing off my exams and saying goodbye to the friends I'd spent years making. Fast forward to one year later and I'm back home after completing my first year of university. Crazy!

I never realised how difficult it was going to be for me. Obviously, I knew that I would miss home, but I could never had imagined how much I would miss it. The first term was just so horrible as well, which just made me want to give up everything and runaway back home. I didn't have any friends, the people in the house I ended up in (I was in house because there were no more spaces left in halls, which didn't help either) were either depressing or weird, the house was truly awful, I was behind on my work, I got threatened by one of my "house mates" and I just felt that nobody cared about me anymore. It was awful and I just wanted to quit altogether.

After some convincing from my Dad though, I decided that I could stick it out through the next two terms. I am so thankful that I did. By the end of the second term, I was starting to make friends and had sorted out somewhere to live. The third term was even better. I now have even more friends and I've finally started to enjoy uni life. Oh and my work has gotten good marks as well.

Looking back at the year all I can think about is how it's gone so quickly, which makes me think that these next two years are going to go even quicker. And it's quite scary. In two years time, I have to think about graduating then either working or postgraduate study or doing something completely different such as travelling the world.

The only thing I want to achieve in these next two years though is that I attain a good degree. It'll be hard work but I think that the goal at the end of the finishing line will be worth it. Once I've achieved that, then I can think about the next steps in life for me.

Photograph everyday?!

So a few weeks ago, a youtuber called Charles Trippy posted a photo montage video where he took a picture of himself for a whole year after having brain surgery. I've posted the link below if you' like to watch it. I thoroughly suggest you do as it does put a smile on your face.

Ever since watching this video, I've been searching online for other photo a day videos and similar projects such as "Project365", which is just taking a photograph of anything everyday for a whole year.

I enjoy watching montage videos of people taking photos of themselves for a year and I've been debating whether or not to try it out for myself.

Now, another youtuber and fellow blogger Sprinkleofglitter, has set a challenge on her blog called The 30 Day Snap. This involves taking a picture everyday for the month of June. I'm very tempted to do this. Not only will make me happy just like when I upload an Instagram pic, but I think it'll help me to think outside the box and stretch my creativity.

So I've decided to give it a whirl! I'm undecided though as to whether I should post my pictures on this blog in a weekly post or if I should do it on Instagram (as I am obsessed with that app) or even both! Probably won't do both as that would be a bit too much, but once I decide I will update you on here.

Re-introduce myself

So, I should probably re-introduce myself to you guys, seeing how I haven't been online for 2 years?!?

Well, for those who don't know, my name is Sophie Marie Oliver. If you're wondering how I came up with the name Smollie then here's how it happened. Basically, I had to come up with a username for online gaming site so I just thought "Oh I'll just use my initials and last name! It'll be fine!" So I called myself Smoliver, and then my friends at school would call me that and then shorten it to Smollie and that's how I got my first ever nickname!

I'm currently at university, studying Film and Television Production, which is just unbelievably brilliant. I still can't believe I managed to get onto this course in the first place, let alone about to finish my first year here. It's been an interesting year, it's had its ups and downs but I'll talk more about that later on.

My hobbies include filming, photography. I like to go out and take photographs, there's nothing that relaxes me more and I think I'm ok at it (which is always a bonus!)

I also listening to music, watching (occasionally making) youtube videos, crafting things (with some help from Pinterest!), and all sorts of things.

Oh and I'm also 19 years old. Meaning that next year on the 8th February I'm going to be 20. Meaning that I'm not going to be a teen anymore! This still shocks me, I cannot get over this.

But yes, I hope you like my blog and I promise to keep updating this blog. If I fail, then, I will eat my shoelaces! And that's a promise!

Hello again old friend!

Hmmm...this blog seems to have been neglected for quite a while now. I do apologise.

I won't go into great detail about why I neglected this blog but basically, some really poopy people at my school found this blog and started taking the mickey out of it and out of me for creating it. I felt really embarrassed by it, but I felt even worse for then neglecting this blog because I did enjoy writing on it and I missed writing on here :(

But anyway, that's in the past now. I've moved on with my life and I'm back. Hooray! I have more of an idea of what to do with this blog now too which makes very happy too.

I'll still talk about things that make me happy and such but I'll also talk about other things such as life, beauty, crafting stuff, filming, photography, etc.

So I hope you do tag along for the ride and enjoy yourself! Bye bye for now! :)

VLOGGING?!?

Right, so for those of you who don't know what this is, vlogging is blogging but on a video format. And it is something I've considered...
HOWEVER, I do have some worries about this:
  1. At first I may seem really awkward infront of a camera (I'm sure I'll get used to it though...)
  2. I don't know whether I can deal with the "haters", especially because I don't want anyone talking about the things I feel most insecure about.
  3. What would I vlog about? I mean I have some ideas in the pipeline but it's just having the motivation to actually get started.
  4. I'm just a school girl who lives in the middle of no where. Who's going to watch that?
  5. Technology. More specifically, my lack of it. Meaning that if do start vlogging, it'll take up a good percentage of time, which I kind of need for revision and stuff...
Having said all of this, I am very tempted to start vlogging. Or maybe I'll start off small and work my way up to being a vlogger. Who knows?

One thing I do know is it certainly won't be starting this week as I'm currently stuck in bed with the flu -_-

Oh well! There's always next week...

Britain In A Day

So on Saturday, I took part in Britain In A Day, which is going to be a film about people's lifes in Britain on Saturday 12th November.
I will be uploading the video sometime this week to Youtube. I really enjoyed the day and I love the concept of this film. I really hope my clips aren't too boring because I'd love to a part of this film history.

Also, you guys (if you are there) should check out my Youtube channel. I know there's not a lot on there now but I'm planning on changing that in due course. Plus, I'm also considering doing some vlogs...

So here's my quote for this post:
